Palestinian shot dead by Israeli army in West Bank clash

Israeli soldiers shot dead 24-year-old Muhammed al-Jaabari during clashes in the West Bank on Friday, the Palestinian Health Ministry said.

Clashes erupted after Israeli settlers reportedly assaulted Palestinian children in the neighborhood of Silwan in occupied East Jerusalem.

A young Palestinian was shot in the chest and later died after a confrontation with Israeli soldiers in the occupied West Bank.

As soldiers arrived, "a riot was instigated, during which troops used riot dispersal means and fired live rounds", a military spokesman told AFP.

The presence of the settlers within and around Palestinian towns and villages causes near-daily friction between the communities.

Turkey on Saturday condemned a law passed by the Israeli Parliament which allows it to revoke the permanent residency status of Palestinians in East Jerusalem under certain conditions.

One Palestinian has been killed during clashes with Israelis in the Nablus area, a Palestinian Red Cross spokesperson said confirming earlier media reports. They live in hundreds of illegal Jewish-only settlements built on Palestinian land.

Residency documents belonging to any Palestinian deemed to be a threat to the Israeli regime can be seized by the ministry of the interior under the new measures, which went to a vote on Wednesday, Independent reported.

Palestinian groups have called for clashes with Israeli forces to protest the U.S. administration's decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel's capital and relocate the USA embassy to the city.

Last December, the UN's human rights chief had criticized the killing of Ibrahim Abu Thuraya, a disabled Palestinian protester who was shot at the border fence between Gaza and Israel.

The situation in the region escalated last December, after US President Donald Trump recognized Jerusalem al-Quds as the capital of Israel, prompting the global criticism.
