Sonia Gandhi complains of unease at Shimla, condition stable now

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi was shifted to Delhi after she fell sick in Shimla on Thursday.

Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital Medical Superintendent Ramesh Chand accompanied the Congress leader from Shimla to Chandigarh.

Shimla: UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi, who went to Shimla to inspect her under-construction house at Chharabra, 15 km from the city, complained of restlessness on Thursday night, following which she was taken to Delhi.

Sonia Gandhi and her daughter were staying at the Wildflower Hall, an Oberoi Group luxury resort. Her visit comes immediately after the Congress Plenary Session that was held last week. Dr. Chand along with his team were present in an ambulance till Chandigarh and stated that Sonia Gandhi was stable.

Initially, Gandhi was to be taken to PGI Chandigarh, but her doctors, who were constantly in touch with Priyanka, advised her to travel to Delhi instead. Priyanka also accompanied Sonia on her brief trip.

Speaking to news agency ANI today, a Shimla-based doctor said that an ambulance from the Indira Gandhi Medical College took Sonia to Chandigarh.

Her health reportedly deteriorated due to cold conditions in Shimla and adjoining areas. Earlier, she was scheduled to return on Friday. The cottage, which is over 3.5 bighas (a bigha is about 0.4 hectare), is situated at a altitude of more than 8,000 feet, surrounded by pine and cedar trees.

The cottage at Chharabra is near its completion and is located to President of India's summer holiday camp.
