AAP allocates almost Rs 14000 crore for education sector in its budget

For the 2018-19 fiscal, Mr. Sisodia said, the government targeted the time-bound induction of 1,000 buses, each, for the DTC, under the cluster scheme and the creation of a new fleet of electric buses.

Former Delhi Education Minister Arvinder Singh Lovely said that the government claimed that 70 per cent budget on education had been spent is a blatant lie as till December 2017, 60-70 per cent on education had not been spent.

"In this budget, there is something for everyone in the society".

Further, the Drug Control Department inspected about 277 sales firms every month and suspended or cancelled 50 licences monthly for violation of norms, the first Outcome Budget stated, adding around two crore people availed healthcare services in 32 Delhi government hospitals. The emphasis on education and health has continued.

In June previous year, the AAP government had announced that over 500 locations across east Delhi would be made high-speed Wi-fi zones by December 2016, allowing access to free internet till a pre-determined limit daily.

"We reduced raid culture, had faith in our traders, reduced tax leakages and have managed to increase our budget estimate by over Rs20,000 crore", the CM said.

The green budget envisages a real-time source apportionment study of air pollution, developing a model for forecasting of air pollution scenario and setting up 1,000 indoor display panels inside all government buildings dealing with the public to display information on air pollution levels. Subsidy will also be given to firms to switch over to clean fuel-based power generators. Government also announced their plans to introduce a new cirriculum- Happiness Cirriculum in government schools.

The proposal was later sent to Lt. Governor Anil Baijal for approval.

The Delhi Government's allocation for education is at 26 percent of the budget this year, as against 23.5 percent allocation last year.

Around 1.2 lakh CCTV cameras in Government schools. A committee has been prepared to draft the guidelines.

Finance Minister Manish Sisodia made the announcement in his 2018-19 budget speech in the Assembly. "We have complete trust on our businessmen and they believe on the government, that's why we get more taxes' collection, " Mr Kejriwal said.
