Windows 10 Build 17634 is now available for Skip Ahead Insiders

Chief Executive Satya Nadella reshaped the company again Thursday by establishing two main divisions - one focused on "experiences and devices" and the second on cloud and artificial intelligence platforms.

The current executive vice president for the product group, Rajesh Jha, will head the experiences and devices division. To alleviate negative consequences of the technology Nadella and Microsoft President and Chief Legal Officer Brad Smith have formed a new AI and Ethics in Engineering and Research group at the company.

Microsoft recently confirmed that it has open-sourced a Windows Subsystem for Linux (WSL) sample for Windows 10 targeted at Linux distribution to help them bring their distros to the Windows Store to run on Windows 10's WSL. Joe Belfiore is also remaining under the main Windows team, running experiences for PCs and devices.

What's even more interesting is that Windows and Azure platforms are being merged under Jason Zander, who will be in charge of Roanne Sones, manager for Strategy and Ecosystem for Microsoft. The new naming suggests a downplaying of Windows-still a major money-maker for the company-but not its abandonment. The Windows devices team combines with Office software, with the goal of building laptops and tablets that appeal to users of Microsoft's applications, including its Word and Excel programs and newer tools like email and Skype.

As part of the reorganization, work on Windows is set to be split up between two groups.
