Overwatch's Uprising Event Returns This April

The Uprising brawl (story and all heroes mode) from last year's event will be returning, but Kaplan describes the Omnic Uprising as "just one" of these historical Overwatch events, with Archives being created to explore even more.

"Some of you who paid really close attention a year ago to the loot box, you'll notice that it used to say "Archives" on that loot box".

Eagle eyed players may not be all that surprised by the announcement. But what we didn't know was how it would differ from a year ago and now we've got an inside look at what's new.

Despite the fact that Kaplan is interested in a battle royale mode, and Activision Blizzard has said it's actively looking into bringing the phenomenon into its own games, it's probably going to be a while before we see it come to Overwatch.

Blizzard also let you play as any group of heroes in a separate mode.

Winnie Mandela, South African anti-apartheid campaigner, dies at 81
She formed the Mandela United Football Club, whose members served as her bodyguards in the face of her increasing following. Four years later, she was back in court, facing fraud and theft charges in relation to an elaborate bank loan scheme.

The sprawling PVE event detailed Tracer's first mission as a member of Overwatch as her team (comprised of Torbjorn, Reinhardt and Mercy) tried to quell a revolt by the robotic Omnic faction Null Sector in King's Row.

Blizzard Entertainment announces the Overwatch Archives event, which builds upon Uprising, which was the lore-based in-game event that took place previous year. In the second variant, players took part in the same mission but could play as any hero.

The return of the event this year points to us once again battling through the streets of King's Row, although Blizzard may have more in store for us this time around.

Uprising and, presumably the rest of the Archives event, goes live on Tuesday, April 10 and runs until Monday, April 30. A special video will be revealed during the Overwatch League stream on the opening day of Stage 3 on April 4/5.

There will be new loot box items for this year's Overwatch Archives, including "a skin for your favorite Shimada brother", as Kaplan teased. Beginning on April 10, the event is being pitched as a bigger and better version of the Uprising event which was introduced previous year. Whether it might be Overwatch's black-ops unit Blackwatch (of which Reaper, McCree, and Genji were all a part) or Talon, or even more Omnics, remains to be seen.
