Distracted Driving Demonstration Teaches Teens The Dangers Of Texting On The Road

MI law prohibits a driver from reading, typing, or sending a text message while driving.

"Ultimately our goal is not to write tickets but to educate people that distracted driving is illegal, unsafe and carries stiff financial penalties".

In total, local Mounties handed out 500 tickets. This March that number rose to 145.

"Wearing two may diminish your awareness and can result in a $368 ticket for distracted driving", stated an RCMP press release. "Parents need to set a better example for their kids, companies need to create and enforce stronger policies, and legislators need to strengthen our current distracted driving laws".

In order to raise awareness about this, Northam signed a proclamation making this Distracted Driving Awareness Month at the request of the nonprofit DRIVE SMART Virginia, an organization that has been working on the issue of distracted driving for more than a decade.

These steps would seem to satisfy requirements lawmakers had sought from the social network in the bipartisan Honest Ads Act. The company will now require both political ads and pages with "large numbers of followers" to be authorized.

"Although the campaign is over, our officers are still targeting people using their phones while behind the wheel".

Minnesota State Patrol Sergeant Troy Christianson said "That's enough for us to be able to stop and investigate exactly what's going on in the auto".

New stiffer penalties for distracted driving were introduced earlier this year.

Just a reminder if you are on your phone while driving, you can face a fine of up to $200.
