Congress chief Rahul Gandhi led a midnight march to the India Gate tonight to protest the Kathua and Unnao minor rape cases.

The candle-light protest on Thursday midnight was called at a short notice and saw people converging at the India Gate in sizeable numbers to express their support.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi appealed to the people of NCT-Delhi to join the midnight candle march at India to show the outrage against Kathua and Unnao rape incidents.

An eight-year-old girl belonging to a nomadic Muslim tribe was repeatedly gang-raped, drugged, beaten and ultimately killed by a group of men in Kathua. "So, the Prime Minister should publicly say he is sorry and that's why he is holding this fast to tender an apology to various sections of India's population", Surjewala said. Gandhi sat atop his vehicle to briefly talk to the media.

"We want to wake up the Modi government which is fast asleep". Today, women are feeling insecure to move out of their houses.

But the fight shown from Juventus was incredible as Mario Mandzukic book-ended the first half with a brace before Blaise Matuidi restored parity.

Intensifying its attack on PM Modi and Yogi governments, the Congress party chose to observe black day on April 17 to protest rising crimes against women in the country.

Gandhi said that as this concerned the safety of women it was a "national issue, not a political issue".

Disruption is totally unacceptable in Parliament System as representatives are sent to speak for the people on the floor, Ashini added. Prime Minister had given a slogan "Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao" (Save the Daughter, Teach the Daughter) and it is during his regime that our girls are being raped.

Taking to Twitter on Thursday, he asked how anyone could protect the perpetrators of such evil. Delhi Congress leader Aman Panwar disclosed that the party held the protest late at night to avoid causing traffic disturbances in Central Delhi.

Announcing the march, Gandhi had tweeted in the evening, "Like millions of Indians my heart hurts tonight. The graph of crimes against women has gone up in India and BJP ruled states and thus, the congress party will observe April 17 as the black day against this trend", said Sushmita Dev, president All India Mahila Congress.
