Apple this week initiated a new service program that grants free, out of warranty repairs to Apple Watch Series 2 owners whose device suffers from a swollen battery or refuses to turn on.

According to the document, "some" Apple Watch Series 2 models will not power on or exhibit swollen batteries "under certain conditions". The repairs must be scheduled through the Genius Bar and it is recommended that customers ensure that it will be a free fix prior to agreeing to service. The Cupertino giant has also come under fire after it became apparent that it was slowing down older iPhone models to deliver battery life consistency, prompting an apology and discounted battery replacements for eligible iPhones.

Apple Watch faces are mostly limited to digital or analog time displays and a choice of complications, with any new additions only coming from Apple itself and remaining under their control, such as the Disney and Pixar characters added a year ago. The offer is good for up to three years after the date of purchase. In other words, customers can't just request a battery swap if nothing is actually wrong with their Apple Watch Series 2.

Said reference relates to a "3rd party face config bundle", which certainly sounds like Apple is going to allow third-parties to design faces for its swanky wearable.
