Bon Jovi reunites in Cleveland to enter Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

During a 20-minute speech, Jon Bon Jovi recounted the band's rise to superstardom from basements to sold-out arenas. "I said "I'm doing great, this is awesome". This was most glaring with the absence of bonafide front man Mark Knopfler, who hasn't uttered a word about the ceremony, either in regards to formally say nah or to provide some context for his snub.

The group then played "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock and Roll Band, ' 'Wildest Dreams, ' 'Nights in White Satin" and 'Ride My See Saw.' The ceremony will be aired in the U.S. by HBO on 5 May. One of the biggest moments of the evening was when the guys of Bon Jovi took the stage with their original guitarist Richie Sambora and bass player Alec John Such.

Cars keyboardist Greg Hawkes echoed the theme when thanking the fans of the band formed in Boston in the late 1970s. "Everybody's more alike than they are [different], and especially now, in today's world, that's really important".

Simone received a passionate and show-stopping tribute from groundbreaking performers who she has deeply inspired, from Lauryn Hill to Mary J. Blige.

Day, a Grammy-nominated R&B singer, was also extraordinary, hitting high notes that also earned her applause. Both women exceptionally displayed their powerhouse voices. She described Simone as "bold, feisty, strong and fearless", something Simone's brother confirmed in a rambling speech he made while accepting her award.

"Her voice was so distinctive and powerful, and I never heard anything like it", the R&B superstar said.

She used to keep mum about the conflict between the two men in her life, but she made a decision to open up about it now. At a listening party for her album Now past year , Twain did mention that she'd like to collaborate with Minaj .

Simone was a leader in pushing for civil rights and influenced everyone from Aretha Franklin to Alicia Keys. Her brother, Jon Wayman, accepted the enshrinement trophy on her behalf.

The ceremoney started with The Killers giving tribute to the late Tom Petty.

Benjamin Orr passed away after a battle with pancreatic cancer in 2000, four years before The Cars were eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame honors.

After an "In memoriam" montage of those who passed in the a year ago, Heart's Anne Wilson and Alice in Chains' Jerry Cantrell delivered a tribute to Chris Cornell.

After weeks and months of discussions, April 14th saw the annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony take place, with musicians such as Nina Simone, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, The Moody Blues, and Dire Straits all receiving the prestigious honour.

The Moody Blues closed out the night. Rock Hall voters have recently opened their hearts to progressive rockers, which benefited the "Nights in White Satin" singers.
