Sergio Aguero's season is over, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed. We are achieving points in most of our games.

The following season, their response to securing the title with four games to spare was to suffer three successive league defeats.

"When I came here the chairman and sporting director never said "You have to win the Champions League" or 'You have to win the Premier League, '" said Guardiola.

Indeed, five City players were voted into the PFA Team of the Year: Nicolas Otamendi, Kyle Walker, David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Serio Aguero.

Guardiola's concerns are well-founded, particularly with regard to his time at Bayern Munich.

"This is not our party at the weekend but we will try to do our best and get points, understanding that it will be one of the most hard games of the season for all teams because they are champions", he said. "I like the way they improved the team and the squad".

Ernesto Valverde: 'Watching Andres Iniesta play is a pleasure'
At the start of the season, we would have all accepted it. "For me tonight is unforgettable", he said. We'll go back to work this Sunday with more strength and focus.

"We'll speak to the club at the end of the season", he said.

"They have dominated this season and it's right to compliment them on winning this league; this league is not simple to win".

Guardiola is determined that City maintain the high standards they have set this season, with the champions still able to set a new Premier League record for most points, wins and goals scored.

City can sweeten their title win by breaking several records in their five remaining league games, starting with Sunday's home match against struggling Swansea City. It would be nice to finish good in terms of good feelings. Maybe most goals and points will be a good focus. "If you don't, I realise this season it will be so complicated". It would be uncomfortable to finish in a bad way. What do we have to change. "But athletes need a target".

"[Swansea] are playing to stay in the Premier League". It's four or five weeks. "For the first part of the rehabilitation, he is going to be there".
