McHappy Day in North Battleford celebrates milestone

"Every year, McHappy Day unites thousands of Canadians across the country in support of Ronald McDonald Houses and other local children's charities", says John Betts, President and CEO of McDonald's Canada. Patrons also had the option of donating more, or purchasing a pair of McDonald's socks as a way to donate.

No family is ever billed for a stay at the Ronald McDonald house.

At Ronald McDonald House, Kaiden said, his favourite rooms were the art and game rooms. It's expected to see an increase in families coming through once the nearby children's hospital is built.

McHappy Day has raised more than $67 million for charities, including the Ronald McDonald House, since it began 25 years ago.

Riley Windeler was one of the friendly faces greeting customers at McDonalds in Williams Lake Wednesday. We spoke to a current resident at the house, Emerson Brown. She says if they are full the organization will set families up with hotel vouchers so they don't have to worry about finding a place to stay while their loved ones are treated, as long as the family qualifies to stay at the house. We're rolling up our sleeves and lending a helping hand.
