Pete Oliver, managing director of marketing and sales at BT Sport, said: "To have Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League final is fantastic". Once again we will be making the UEFA Champions League final available to all to watch online for free.

TVÉ previously held the rights to the Tuesday night matches and TV3 held the rights to Wednesday games.

"This season we have shown some absolutely unbelievable games and have had some of our biggest games to date with our UEFA Champions League viewing figures up by 47% this season".

Who's your money on to win for the UEFA Champions League Final? The final, as with all Champions League and Europa League games, will not be broadcast on any free-to-air television in the UK. A further million or so watched Manchester United's triumph over Ajax in the Europa League final.

The match will see Atletico Madrid take on Marseille in Lyon on 16 May.

Brett Connolly and Evgeny Kuznetsov scored for Washington. "Not good enough for power play, but we will be better for sure". He was pulled with more than three minutes remaining as the Capitals were desperate to create more offense.

TV3 and Virgin Media will dominate Irish TV coverage of the Champions League and Europa League for the next three seasons.

On satellite TV BT Sport continues to hold exclusive rights, although there is speculation that it may sub-let some games to Channel 4 or ITV as there are now no European games on terrestrial television in the UK.

"This success, in conjunction with the rights to broadcast our national team's European and World Cup qualifiers for 2020 & 2022, guarantees top class football on RTÉ platforms for the seasons ahead". "This landmark deal confirms Virgin Media as Ireland's leading connected entertainment business and is great news for TV3 viewers and Virgin Media Customers".

BT Sport has announced the Liverpool vs Real Madrid Champions League Final will be a free-for-all.
