Emilia Clarke wants to retire the phrase 'strong' female leads

GAME OF THRONES star Emilia Clarke looked out of this world at the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The actress revealed she has always enjoyed pay parity with her male co-stars.

The actress attended the Cannes Film Festival on Tuesday with the cast of her forthcoming project Solo: A Star Wars Story.

"It was my first job, and I was not discriminated against because I was a woman in my paycheck", she said. In particular, she said the pay disparity in Netflix's The Crown - where Matt Smith was paid more than co-star Claire Foy - as "shocking, actually shocking".

'You start to dig deep and see where it is, rife in the industry, ' she said. I was always gonna do everything he told me to do, so I watched them really young [and] got into them from him", she said."Then when it all came back the second time around, I became a fan all over again, because it's just... they've taken it to every level.

"It will be what none of us think it will be", Clarke predicted.

Things aren't all glitz and glamour for Qi'ra, Clarke promises, as she also makes good on the "femme fatale" persona that has previously been used to describe the character.

The 31-year-old actress stars as Daenerys Targaryen in the hit HBO fantasy drama, and has said she has never experienced gender inequality when it comes to her pay on the show. "That's exciting, but it's sad and scary all at the same time", she says.
