Heroic dog helps his friend to get out of the pool

A dog in Arizona has shown he is not only man's best friend but also dog's best friend after helping rescue his canine pal who was in danger drowning in a swimming pool earlier this month.

- When a pup fell into the backyard pool, his doggy friend stepped up to help and the incredible heroic act was caught on the family's surveillance camera.

The dog can be seen scrambling to get out while Remus anxiously paces back and forth alongside the pool.

"When we saw the footage, we were amazed and our hearts filled with joy", the friend said. "She says he's a certified lifeguard now".

Video shows Smokey, who is floundering in the water trying to swim to the edge of the pool.

Remus appears to try and pull Smokey out of the pool, but his attempts fail so instead he jumps in and pushes Smokey out of the water.

"So Remus and Smokey got a little rambunctious".

ACS-low, Arizona, told the media that her husband Jay found his wet dog named Smokey and I chose to check what happened. She wrote that the two dogs often play near the pool without incident, but added in a comment on the video that she had ordered Smokey a life jacket just to be safe.
