"So, I think it will be part of the discussion, but the reality is we have to determine whether or not Eric Greitens is who we want leading our state".

House Speaker Todd Richardson, House Speaker Pro Tem Elijah Haahr and House Majority Floor Leader Rob Vescovo said in a statement they're still waiting for a recommendation from a special House committee on whether to impeach Greitens.

The defense attorneys allege that William Tisaby, an investigator hired by Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, lied to the court and withheld evidence. The governor is on trial in St. Louis this week on charges of invasion of privacy over allegedly taking a semi-nude photo of a woman with whom he had an affair, without her permission.

Prosecutors said they will make a decision later on whether to seek a special prosecutor or appoint someone to continue pursuing the case.

Greitens' attorneys have criticized Gardner's handling of the case, particularly her hiring of private investigator William Tisaby, who Greitens' lawyers have accused of perjury.

"Today, the prosecutor dropped the false charges against me".

Judge Burlison ultimately sanctioned prosecutors for failing to promptly turn over to the defense relevant evidence, like the video and 11 pages of notes Tisaby took while interviewing the woman's friend.

Like the great dress debate, what do you hear? Yanny or Laurel?
Moreover, some people have added to the confusion by somehow saying they can hear both. Even Houston Texans star JJ Watt joined in the debate tweeting, "Yanny vs.

Gardner spokeswoman Susan Ryan declined to discuss a timeline for that case and said the office has not decided whether to ask Attorney General Josh Hawley to take over the prosecution. Then, on April 18, the defense said Tisaby and Gardner were under investigation.

Gardner's office has said the charge stemming from Greitens' 2015 extramarital affair be refiled by a special prosecutor or an assistant in her office.

Ryan did not immediately return TPM's request for comment on whether the computer tampering case, which legal experts have argued is much stronger, will also be assigned to a special prosecutor.

Greitens has previously admitted that he had an affair with his hair stylist, but has denied past allegations that he tied the woman up with her consent, photographed her without her consent, and threatened to release the photo if she disclosed the affair.

Committee Chairman Jay Barnes said Monday that the House had issued subpoenas for documents and testimony from Greitens' campaign committee, former campaign manager Austin Chambers and a secretive committee called "A New Missouri" that has supported Greitens' agenda. Prosecutors accused Mr. Greitens of using the donor list of a veterans' charity he founded for political fund-raising, a charge that could lead to a four-year prison sentence if he is convicted. The trial date for his second felony charge has not been set. In addition to perjury, that includes $100,000 in secret cash payments for a witness or witnesses, payments that were concealed from our defense team by the Circuit Attorney's Office.

Jury selection began on Thursday.
