Penn State and DePaul faced off inside the Bryce Jordan Center during the first annual Gavitt Tipoff Games in 2015 when the Nittany Lions came away with an 82-68 victory.

The Illini are 1-1 in the Gavitt Tipoff Games, losing during the inaugural year at Providence and beating DePaul last season. All games will be televised on FS1 or BTN.

The other games will feature Georgetown at IL on the 13th, MI at Villanova ( a rematch of the national title game) & Seton Hall at Nebraska on the 14th, Penn State at DePaul & Ohio State at Creighton on the 15th and St. Johns at Rutgers on the 16th. Junior guard Myles Powell paces the Pirates, as he averaged 15.5 points and 2.8 assists per game to help coach Kevin Willard reach the NCAA Tournament for the third straight year.

Villanova will host MI in a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Tournament final on November 14 as part of the fourth annual Gavitt Tipoff Games. The three NIT squads are Marquette, Nebraska and Penn State.

At least 2 killed as powerful storm pounds Northeast US
It was estimated that 108,000 homes were without power on Tuesday night, the Hartford Courant daily reported. The storms capable of producing damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes appear to be over for now.

The Blue Demons ended their 2017-18 season in the opening game of the Big East Tournament, posting an 11-20 overall record and 4-14 mark in league play.

The 2018 game will be the first home contest for Nebraska in the series.

The Gavitt Tip-off Games is part of the Huskers' non-conference slate which will also feature two games in Kansas City for the Hall of Fame Classic (Texas Tech, USC and Missouri State), a ACC/Big Ten Challenge matchup (opponent and location TBD) as well as the annual matchup with Creighton.

The unique series between the two conferences was named to honor the late Dave Gavitt, the founder of the Big East Conference and basketball visionary. Each edition consists of eight games with a couple of teams from both conferences sitting out. Only time will tell when it comes to whether Jay Wright's team will have what it takes to make it three championships in four years, but at least that no matter what, the Wildcats will be one of the early favorites to repeat during the 2018-19 season.
