Chinese OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T Get Updated To Android 8.1 Oreo

OnePlus has announced its new flagship smartphone, introducing the OnePlus 6, which brings a dual camera set up with Optical Image Stabilisation, priced from £469. In this beta update, OnePlus has added three new features to the OnePlus launcher app.

The update comes as HydrogenOS 5.1.0 on both devices and comes in at a little over 1.9GB. However, the update now is rolling out to the beta users only. The OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T is getting Open Beta 10 and open Beta 8 update respectively.

One of the major changes with the update is the introduction of an optimized user interface for the OnePlus switch application.

OnePlus is also bringing improvements to OnePlus Switch with the May security patch update. The enhancements come in the form of a new UI for backup and restore, an optimized logic for time remaining. The OnePlus launcher now offers support for editing dynamic icons such as weather, clock and calendar.

It is to be noted that this an open beta update, and therefore, may not be as stable as official OTA update. Talking about operating system updates, the OnePlus 6 is confirmed to get the latest Android P soon. The open beta update being released to these smartphones are still based on Android Oreo.
