Riz Ahmed to co-write the screenplay for Ms Marvel

While Kaling seemed up to the task, replying to Ahmed that she's "obsessed with this comic book", other Twitter users weren't so sure that it'd be fitting.

Ms Marvel, aka Kamala Khan and Marvel's first Muslim superhero, was launched in the comics back in 2013.

Which then got current Ms. Marvel comics writer and Kamala Khan co-creator G. Willow Wilson excited.

According to recent reports, Ms Marvel is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following the success of the comics.

Khan is a teenage Pakistani American from Jersey City, New Jersey with shapeshifting abilities and assumes the mantle of Ms. Marvel from her idol, Carol Danvers after Danvers becomes Captain Marvel.

In a BBC interview, Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed that after 2019's Captain Marvel, the studio will be planning a Ms Marvel film.

"Captain Marvel's shooting right now with Brie Larson", he said.

Emmy-award winning British-Pakistani actor, rapper and activist Riz Ahmed has offered to co-write the screenplay for Ms Marvel along with Mindy Kaling and Kumail Nanjiani.

In a tweet, Ahmed wrote, "So when do Marvel Studio want me, Mindy Kaling and Kumail Nanjiani to get started on the MsMarvel screenplay?"
