Liverpool's German manager Jurgen Klopp walks past the trophy as he collects his loser's medal after the UEFA Champions League final football match between Liverpool and Real Madrid at the Olympic Stadium in Kiev, Ukraine on May 26, 2018.

'I suppose the president knew [Zidane was leaving] before today, so he has for sure been getting in touch with possible coaches and getting their opinion of coming to Real Madrid'.

The former Argentina defender told El Confidencial that you could not just ignore a call from the La Liga giants, however the situation "does not depend on me" and he was happy at Tottenham. Although in this case it doesn't depend on me. There were tough moments during the season and although I was sometimes whistled at, I want to thank the fans.

Pochettino has gradually improved Tottenham since arriving from Southampton in 2014, guiding them to three consecutive top three Premier League finishes, and a group stage victory over Madrid on the way to the 2017-18 Champions League round of 16.

"I'm working very comfortably at Tottenham and it's my obligation to focus on that".

'Murdered' Russian journalist Arkady Babchenko is alive :: Kenya
Arkady Babchenko , who was scathingly critical of the Kremlin, was gunned down in the Ukrainian capital, Kiev, on Tuesday. Officials said Tuesday that Babchenko was shot at his apartment and even went so far as to release a sketch of a suspect.

"I live in the present, that is the most important thing. I enjoy what is happening and what has to be, will be", he told Spanish newspaper AS. However, with no release clause in the Argentine's contract and no ceiling as to the compensation fee that Spurs could demand, it may prove impossible to prise him away from White Hart Lane.

"He supported me at all times, gave me good advice, always had a smile, and I think that is something that helps you improve as a player".

He won the Spanish league title in his second season, then became the first manager to win the Champions League in his first three seasons when Real defeated Juventus in the 2017 final, and Liverpool this month. "Zidane deserves enormous praise, I am a big admirer of his".

Pochettino is favourite for the Real job after Zinedine Zidane's dramatic resignation yesterday.
