IOS 12 Will Help You Fight Your iPhone Addiction

The operating system will boost the performance of devices, which means Camera launches up to 70 percent faster, the keyboard loads 50 percent faster and typing is more responsive.

At its WWDC event yesterday, Apple revealed the major new features coming to iOS 12.

This includes improved processor performance, which now peaks quicker when it is needed, and then ramps down quickly to save battery life. We can't wait for the tech giants to do it for us, because finding shiny new uses for those things is what they're good at.

This includes Apple working with Pixar to create a new file format - called USDZ.

But as the Verge reports, there are still a handful of new features that come with the update including one that tracks your phone usage, group FaceTime calls, and an app that can measure your furniture.

Apple's WWDC keynote for 2018 is all about software, and one of the apps that's due for some enhancements is Photos. It'll now begin looking for relevant photos before you've completed your search query, and it'll make improved search suggestions as you try to nail down the specific image you're looking for.

In iOS 12, Apple will allow apps to expose shortcuts to Siri.

An example is saying "where are my keys" to have an app open which locates your vehicle keys. Users can also find out which apps most often make them pick up their iPhones.

Notifications: You now have greater control over notifications, so they can be delivered quietly directly to the Notification Center. Siri will also start anticipating your needs, so if, for example, you're running late, it'll ask you if you need to send an apology text. The voice memo app has also been updated with a new app and it is also making its way to the iPad.

While it could power your next laptop (maybe), you nearly certainly won't be seeing the Snapdragon 850 in your next phone. Meanwhile we might soon see virtual surround sound as its now supported by Qualcomm's Aqstic & aptX audio.

Apple unveiled iOS 12 at its Worldwide Developers Conference today, and some of the most buzzworthy features have to do with bringing new AR experiences to the iPhone and iPad.

Apple also will give users reports on how much time they spend on apps and what gets them to check them constantly.

Apple has also introduced the ability to make group FaceTime calls.

New features help protect users' anonymity online. Previously FaceTime calls were limited to just one-on-one, but iOS 12 is expected to facilitate group FaceTime calls with up to a whopping 32 people at once. Facebook acknowledged that over the years device makers like Apple, Samsung and Blackberry were able to build versions of the social network for their mobile devices.

One pertinent section entitled "multiplatform services" says "a$3 pps that operate across multiple platforms may allow users to access content, subscriptions, or features they have acquired elsewhere, including consumable items in multi-platform games, provided those items are also available as in-app purchases within the app".
