As of today, the White House has promised that Melania is set to attend a closed-door event this evening for Gold Star families.

The first lady stayed behind Friday when President Donald Trump, his daughters, eldest son and son-in-law went to the Camp David retreat for the weekend. The president showed her to a seat in the front row before he headed for the stage. "She just looked so attractive".

"She's confident in what she is doing and in her role, and knows the rest is just speculation and nonsense".

On May 10, the first couple welcomed home American hostages from North Korea.

Videos of the first lady at the event, which marked her first public appearance in more than three weeks after undergoing a kidney procedure at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, were quickly posted on social media.

It was initially announced that Melania would be in the hospital for two or three days, and the White House offered no comment on why her time in the hospital was significantly longer. The first lady said in a written statement after last June's event that these families "are a unique and distinct category of individuals who should be cherished". Her security guards didn't feel it was safe for her to go out. "It's her style and we just have to accept that".

Facebook Denies Claims Mobile Data Sharing Broke Privacy Pledges
Microsoft (msft) said any data its software got from Facebook stayed on users' devices and was not uploaded to its own servers. Facebook began shutting down the use of the APIs in April as part of its response to the Cambridge Analytica incident.

The rumors surrounding her absence ranged from suggestions she had plastic surgery to speculation that she moved out of the White House and back to NY. And it is unclear what work has been done on the First Lady's new "Be Best" campaign to raise awareness for children's issues in recent weeks. The press is not invited, but no doubt we will receive some kind of confirmation from some source whether the first lady was there or not.

Melania's spokeswoman confirmed she will not travel to either Quebec for the G7 or Singapore later this month for the meeting between U.S. President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un. According to CNN, Trump made a joke about Melania's prolonged absence, saying that the media were speculating the first lady had left him.

She sent early signals that she will not bow to speculation or public expectations about what she should be doing.

"For most of the 20th century and certainly in the 21st century, a first lady hasn't had the option of not being a public figure - regardless of unfortunate personal circumstances".

The event, which will take place this afternoon at the White House, will be closed to the press.

The President also talked about the strong economy during the event, the person inside the room said.
