Bates, Green tons power New Zealand women to record ODI total

In men's cricket, the highest ODI total is 444 for three by England against Pakistan in August, 2016 at Nottingham.

New Zealand captain Suzie Bates is rated as the second-best player in women's cricket worldwide.

Opening the innings, Bates set the tone for the huge total.

During her knock, Bates also reached 4192 ODI runs, surpassing Debbie Hockley (4064) as New Zealand's all-time leading run-scorer.

Bates slammed 24 boundaries and two sixes and established a 172-run partnership stand with opener Jess Watkin (62). New Zealand scored 490 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in an ODI against Ireland in Dublin. They achieved the biggest win - by 408 runs - when they ran up 455 for 5, the previous highest total in ODIs, in Christchurch in 1997.

Also, in her 151, Bates' strike-rate of 160.63 was the second-highest for an women's worldwide century-maker. Maddy Green (121 - 77 balls) scored her maiden century. However, she conceded 119 runs in her 10-over spell that made her the most expensive bowler in the history of ODI cricket. Towards the end, Amelia Kerr played a whirlwind innings of 81 off just 45 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes to propel the team total to 490/4 in 50 overs.

For Ireland, Cara Murray led their bowling attack as she took two wickets.

Lewis and captain Laura Delany set about restoring stability to the innings, however Lewis - who was following on from her innings of 61 in the T20I on Wednesday - had her promising innings of 20 runs (26 balls; 4 x fours) cut short by a great in-field catch by Kate Ebrahim.

Louise Little, aged 15 who made her debut at 13 past year, Lara Maritz and Gaby Lewis (both 17) all bowled 10 overs and conceded 92 each.
