On his stroll, Kim had been briefed on urban development plans.

Trump said Tuesday at the beginning of expanded discussions with aides from both countries that "We will solve a big problem" and "a big dilemma".

He said he expected the Trump-Kim summit to "go fairly well" but added, "people should not expect too much for the first time".

But he also patted the USA president's arm, in an attempt to show control over the encounter.

Kim was heard telling Trump through an interpreter: "I think the entire world is watching this moment".

While Trump and Kim search each other's eyes and words for signs of trust or deceit, the rest of the world will be watching, hoping that somehow these two unpredictable leaders can find a way to defuse one of the planet's most unsafe flashpoints.

The U.S. President earlier promised that "working together ... we will get it done".

Both Trump and Kim expressed gratitude toward each other for the meetings, and Trump said he would "absolutely" invite Kim to visit the White House.

Mr. Trump was accompanied in a second meeting by a group of senior officials that included national security adviser John Bolton, who angered North Korea with comments suggesting it should follow the "Libya model".

But experts have expressed doubt that Pyongyang would abandon its hard-won nuclear gains after demonstrating rapid progress in their program with a series of missile and nuclear tests a year ago.

USA president Donald Trump has signed three agreements with North Korea leader Kim Jong-un at a summit in Singapore today, but what is in them remains a mystery.

Meeting with staged ceremony on a Singapore island, Trump and Kim came together for a summit that seemed just unthinkable months ago, clasping hands in front of a row of alternating USA and North Korean flags, holding a one-on-one meeting, additional talks with advisers and a working lunch.
