"The software update is good news", Elazar Advisors' Chaim Siegel was quoted as saying by Reuters, adding the stock was still benefiting from Musk's last week's Model 3 prediction that Tesla will likely hit a "5,000 vehicle week by the end of this month".

Tesla will also reveal its new Supercharger later this year, with the technology being released before the year ends.

Tesla says the Raodster will accelerate from 0-60 mph in 1.9 seconds, have a top speed above 250 mph and an all-electric range of 620 miles or more.

Elon Musk, Chief Executive Officer and Co-founder of Tesla, has disclosed that the latest version of Autopilot will begin rolling out in August, which will authorize the fully autonomous capabilities of Tesla vehicles.

Musk in a tweet highlighted the arrival of Version 9.0. It already has a couple different sedans in the Model S and Model 3, along with the Model X SUV. But a spate of recent crashes has brought the system under regulatory scrutiny. But the company has also heavily promoted its cars' supercharged ability to fend for itself: The Tesla website promises "Full Self-Driving Hardware on All Cars", which it says offer "a safety level substantially greater than that of a human driver".

Earlier this morning, the tweeter-in-chief expressed his elation about being in Singapore and feeling "excitement in the air". Whether it can bring stability to the Korean peninsula is another matter. "I thought I was doing a charity event", he said.

The morning crash in Mountain View on Highway 101 killed the driver, 38-year-old Walter Huang. The driver followed them until taking his hands off the wheel again. They have cameras, radar and sonar sensors.

As impressive as those specs are, Elon Musk over the weekend hinted that the next-gen Roadster may have a few more tricks up its sleeve. Tesla would not comment beyond the CEO's tweets.

As to the benefits, Musk noted that "these rocket engines dramatically improve acceleration, top speed, braking & cornering".

Two other vehicles crashed into the Tesla following the accident, which the NTSB said sparked a fire after the crashes breached the Telsa's 400-volt lithium-ion high-voltage battery.

The idea of mounting rockets on a auto being used on public roads seems highly unlikely, but considering Musk recently started selling flamethrowers to supporters of his tunnel-making The Boring Company, he is just unpredictable enough that such ideas can't be dismissed outright.
