Miami and Orlando are among the 23 cities in the running to host matches, and Hard Rock Stadium - built for soccer and known as a host to sold-out worldwide matches - is expected to be selected. Under the terms of the bid, Canada and Mexico will each host 10 matches.

Instead of three automatic places in the tournament, six will be given by that time. With three host countries, it would be natural to give all three host sides a Day 1 showcase.

Winning the 2026 bid should help push jet fuel into the sport's engine, with the eight years between now and 2026 creating a natural springboard for investment and growth in soccer in America. They had done presentations for the five other confederations on Monday.
