Doctor Sleep, Stephen King's sequel to horror novel The Shining, is being made into a movie, and McGregor is taking the lead.

Mike Flanagan (Before I Wake, Hush) will direct and Trevor Macy (The Strangers) will produce. Following the success of New Line's "It", every studio with any sort of King IP under its roof has fast-tracked each property into pre-production. McGregor will play the adult version of Danny Torrence, the terrified tot plagued by psychic powers who you probably remember best for screaming "Redrum" while he watched his father descend into a murderous rage. Danny now works in a hospice care facility, where he uses his abilities to help take care of patients on their way to the grave, which prompts the nickname "Doctor Sleep".

E3 Trailer: ‘The Last of Us Part 2’ Shows Off Stealth Gameplay
Sony kicked off its E3 2018 presentation with a banjo performance by Gustavo Santoye, who performed one of The Last of Us' themes. On top of that, enemies appear to be more coordinated now, and Naughty Dog's overhauled engine looks wonderful .

Torrance befriends a woman with similar "shining" powers, but the two quickly discover that they are being hunted by a group of individuals who want to kill them to enhance their own supernatural capabilties. They've found that their powers grow if they inhale the "steam" that comes off others with the power to shine, when they are suffering painful deaths. Danny Lloyd famously played the role of Torrance in Kubrick's film. At the time, the film was considered a box office disappointment, earning $44 million on a $19 million budget.

The 2013 novel features Dan Torrance all grown up and haunted by (literally and figuratively) the tragic events in the 1980 classic Stanley Kubrick film The Shining. He is repped by UTA.
