'Shy' singer blows away America's Got Talent judges

When she came out on stage, Courtney seemed really shy but when she let rip, her vocals amazed the panel and judge Howie Mandel hit the famous golden buzzer putting her straight through to the live show.

Launching into Otis Redding's 'Hard to Handle', Courtney left the judges and everyone in the crowd completely speechless - jaws basically dropped everywhere.

Howie was so impressed by Courtney's performance that he said she was beyond this "era" - and compared her to an iconic singer! "I am quiet and sticking to my own path", she says. Watch the video to see her wonderful performance.

Sophie then showed off her super impressive singing skills with a performance of Frank Sinatra's classic hit "My Way" stealing the hearts of millions of viewers!

She later denied her part in anything that went down in the hotel, saying, "I did not attack, or batter, or hurt or injure". In 2013, she was arrested in Omaha, Nebraska after police allegedly saw her swerving on the road.

Courtney competed in The Voice Kids UK previous year but missed out on the top prize.

Courtney made it to the final of the show after being put forward by judge Danny Jones, but narrowly missed out on the title, which was won by Jess Folley, one of rival judge Pixie Lott's choices.

When the song ended she got a standing ovation, much to her dad's delight, who was watching with host Tyra Banks from backstage.

Courtney said getting the golden buzzer was more than she "could have dreamed".

The teen also appeared as part of the South Tyneside Festival summer concert line up in Bents Park in South Shields in July past year where she entertained more than 18,000 people.
