Her next court appearance is set for July 9th.

The two kids are Cheeks' grandchildren, ABC News reported.

Leimome Cheeks, 62, was seen in a viral video over the weekend letting two young children out of cages in the back of an SUV.

A woman has been arrested after a video shared online showed two children getting out of pet kennels inside the trunk of an SUV.

Ms Cheeks was being held in the Shelby County Jail.

When questioned, the kids said their grandmother told them there was no room in the vehicle for them and put them in the kennels.

Based on the police report, the Tennessee grandmother drove from Whitehaven to Collierville, a distance of approximately 25 miles, with the kids inside the dog kennel.

Forces loyal to Yemen's exiled government and irregular fighters led by Emirati troops had neared Hudaida in recent days. The UN special envoy to Yemen, Martin Griffiths, said the world body was talking to both sides to try to avert a battle.

The children were questioned by police following their grandmother's arrest. However, she claimed that she did check up on them periodically during the trip. There was also no operable air conditioning.

Temperatures were in the mid-90's Saturday in the city. She also mentioned that she regularly checked up on her grandchildren during the ride from Whitehaven. Cheek's longtime neighbors never saw this coming.

State child welfare officials are "now involved and investigating", a spokesman told the Appeal.

Neighbors of Cheeks expressed their shock after learning about the incident.

Skylarr Blake, Cheeks' neighbor, told WATN that Cheeks was a "nice lady" and that he couldn't "see her doing that".

A bystander videotaped a weird scene of a woman letting kids out of pet kennels in her auto, which led to the woman's arrest.
