Kyrie Irving on Possible Celtics Contract Extension: 'Doesn't Make Any Sense'

Smith's cohost, Max Kellerman, said Celtics general manager Danny Ainge needs to "seriously consider" moving on from Kyrie Irving for a player like Anthony Davis or Kawhi Leonard.

In a recent press conference, Kyrie Irving also talked about signing a contract extension with the Celtics this summer.

We wondered about Irving's impression of Boston now that he's lived and played here for a year.

But Irving is would really like to minimize those inquiries going forward, and his focus is now on basketball. "And, you know, that time will arise, and when it does, I think I'll have a better, clear, and concise answer for a lot people that are going to ask". "So I'm excited to just really utilize this offseason to dedicate myself to my craft and things outside of it".

Irving said he really is not focused on his extension right now, but more so on getting healthy and preparing for the upcoming National Basketball Association season.

With one of the best coaches in the league in Brad Stevens, there's no doubt that the franchise is destined to contend for years to come.

Porzingis greeted Irving's comments with praise of his own saying: "I love his game".

"My hope is that maybe we could limit it to maybe one question a day about what I'm doing next year", Irving said half-jokingly to reporters.

"I think you guys can feel my attitude is really just redemption next year", Irving said.

BOSTON Kyrie Irving is playing coy about the possibility of reuniting with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate LeBron James next season in Boston. "I mean, they went to Game 7 of the frickin' Eastern Conference finals". "So we'll see what happens".

Irving is focused on winning a title next season.

Irving will get his chance in the limelight, whether next year as a champion with the Celtics or months later as a hot free-agent target. But what can they do over the offseason to make sure they can push toward another championship in the city of Boston?

In a recent interview, Irving was asked if he is open for a possible reunion with James in Boston.

"I'm just happy everyone got to see how special they are on a bigger stage", he said as part of a press tour for his "Uncle Drew" movie to be released June 29. He signed a two-year deal to remain at TD Garden at least until the end of the 2018-19 season.

If Ainge does not like what he sees, it will be more hard to be patient with what should be a finished product. Boston's supposed interest should make him annoyed but not anxious.
