In an unusual Election Day move, Trump attacked Sanford on Tuesday on Twitter, tweeting, "Mark Sanford has been very unhelpful to me in my campaign to MAGA". Alabama GOP Rep. Martha Roby was forced into a runoff last week, taking less than 40 percent of the vote in her primary.

Casting Sanford as a man opposed to the brand of progress on offer by President Trump and his supporters, and further referencing "Argentina" in a sideline bit of shade that is meant to be evocative of Sanford's public disgrace in 2009. He is MIA and nothing but trouble.

Then he delivered a scathing rebuke of Sanford's personal life, writing: "He is better off in Argentina".

"I am grateful for the President's support", Arrington said. He also voted against a border wall proposal, called Trump's proposed tariffs on aluminum and steel "an experiment with stupidity" and was unrelenting in calling for Trump to release his tax returns.

He adds that in races across the country - and more specifically, Arizona - the issues are "Are you for Trump or against Trump?" "We are the party of President Donald J. Trump", Arrington declared in her victory speech.

Over more than two decades, SC voters forgave U.S. Rep. Mark Sanford for his quirkiness, his infidelity and his lies.

According to an analysis of congressional voting records done by the site 538, only four members of the House Republican conference voted less frequently with Trump than Sanford did. Rep. Robert Pittenger was ousted in North Carolina last month.

Corey Stewart, a combative conservative Republican and immigration hardliner who almost upset Ed Gillespie for the party's gubernatorial nomination a year ago, won the right to face Democratic Sen.

On Tuesday, three women - Elaine Luria, Abigail Spanberger and Jennifer Wexton - won Democratic primaries.

Vangie Williams also won the Democratic primary in Virginia's 1st Congressional district. He had been the co-chairman of the Trump campaign in Virginia in 2016. The polls close at 7 p.m.

National and state Republicans are hopeful that Freitas will win, but don't see any of the candidates as likely to pose a real threat to Kaine.

Turning to the Senate, Virginia's Tim Kaine (D) is a heavy reelection favorite against Prince William County Chairman Corey Stewart (R). President Trump easily won the state, and Sen.
