The Toronto Police Service released this image of the Banksy print Trolley Hunters, apparently stolen from an exhibit Sunday.

A print by Banksy valued at $45,000 was snatched from an art exhibition in Toronto's West End curated by Steve Lazarides, the artist's former dealer. "The incident was reported to the police who are now investigating the disappearance", Corey Ross, president of Starvox Exhibits, confirmed in a statement Thursday.

Lazarides declared the exhibition "The Art of Banksy (Banksy's Art") the largest collection of works by this artist ever to be offered for sale, which is estimated at $35 million.

An exhibition of his work just opened in Toronto, but the revered street artist was no where to be seen, as far as anyone knows.

He was described as wearing glasses, a black jacket, a green, camouflage baseball hat, blue jeans that were rolled at the bottom, grey running shoes and glasses.

In the video, a man enters the exhibit, picks up the print and goes out the door clutching the art piece. Meanwhile, a general-admission ticket to attend the exhibit costs about $25.

"To be honest this isn't a Banksy exhibition, it is an exhibition of Banksy's art and I think there's a big difference between the two", he said.

"At some point last Sunday a Banksy print was removed from the exhibit".

Partly for that reason, perhaps, and partly out of a paranoia that seems suitable when speaking of Banksy, several commenters on the police video and elsewhere on social media appear to have agreed on a single culprit for the theft: Banksy himself.

Police have not identified any possible suspects at this time.
