Eden Hazard sets World Cup record with Belgium goal

Thomas Meunier played the ball through the defense for Lukaku to beat the offside trap and flick the ball over goalkeeper Farouk Ben Mustapha. Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard each netted a brace, with Lukaku moving into a tie on the top scorer leaderboard with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Belgium have closed in on a spot in the last 16 with a magnificent 5-2 win over Tunisia in their Group G encounter in Moscow. Khazri and Dylan Broon scored for Tunisia but it was not enough as they were eliminated from the tournament.

Belgium put the wheels in motion with a stellar performance against debutants Panama, and a place in the knockout stages at the 2018 World Cup beckons against Tunisia.

Belgium had a two-goal lead within 16 minutes.

Hazard left the game in the 68th minute, with Germany's Andre Schurrle and Toni Kroos, who did so in the 7-1 victory over Brazil in the semifinals in 2014, the last two players to score two goals each in a World Cup game.

The only other days in World Cup history to see three 1-0 wins in a single day were June 25 1982 (3) and June 23 2010 (3). Don Hutchison says while Spain narrowly defeated Iran , there was always going to be one victor in the match.

Hazard won the penalty when he was brought down by Tunisia's Syam Ben Youssef on the edge of the area.

England (three points) face Panama (none) on Sunday in the same group. Meanwhile, Tunisia has made one change Khaoui replaces Sliti in the playing eleven.

Belgium were much the better team from the off, looking unsafe on nearly every attack, but they were seriously aided and abetted by some ragged defending and non-existing marking from their opponents.
