Thousands of reports of the outage have appeared on the website Down Detector.

The company directed customers to try its status center online and said crews were working to restore service.

Comcast provided a statement to CNBC confirming a "nationwide outage impacting some of our internet, video and voice customers". "We apologize for the inconvenience".

Many customers took to Twitter with their complaints about service outages.

Germany knocked out of 2018 World Cup
Two minutes into stoppage time, South Korea's Kim Young-gwon opened the scoring after German players failed to clear the ball. South Korea lost that match 1-0, and that's only because Jo made some outstanding saves to keep it a one-goal game.

Comcast and Xfinity users across the country found internet slow or unusable and some even lost TV service.

There's no official word from Comcast on when a resolution is expected.

The outage earlier this month lasted through much of an afternoon before it was largely resolved by the following morning. We're sure someone will get back to us sometime between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., and we'll update this story when we hear back.
