Huawei wants to be the leader of 5G technology

5G is the next big thing in mobile communications.

According to DigiTimes, Huawei rotating and acting CEO Eric Xu spoke during MWC Shanghai 2018 and said the company will launch commercial 5G solutions and 5G chips for smartphones in March 2019. But the IP market is still waiting to see more concrete licence proposals from a company that's unique in combining huge contributions to 5G standards with a leading global device business.

China Mobile and Huawei have accumulated significant technical expertise in 5G research.

That might be fine by Trump, who earlier this month blamed rising prices on OPEC , but has fostered close ties to Saudi Arabia . Russia, Iraq, the UAE and Kuwait jointly have another million barrels, so there is spare production of 3 million barrels a day.

Statements like these are proof-positive that 5G is rounding the corner and heading into the home stretch. Their baseband units and remote radio units are the same, their protocols are largely the same, and mobile internet services [form] the bulk of data traffic in both 4G and 5G networks. Huawei attributed the speedy rollouts to the launch of the 3rd Generation Partnership Project's (3GPP) Release 16 specification, which the company said will accelerate the development of 5G networks and services. Commercial 5G services are expected to become available in 2020. The VR broadcasting service incorporates Huawei's 5G core network and base stations, a VR broadcasting service provided by Let in VR, and Huawei's VR2 terminal. We'll also start seeing 5G smartphones in 2019 as chip manufacturers are due to start supplying their compatible products as well.
