SUPREME SHOWDOWN: Trump Creates CONFIRMATION Team as the Left Vows to Fight

With Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy's retirement, President Trump will be given a second opportunity to nominate a new justice.

The Republicans have slender two-vote lead in the 100-member Senate and at least one Senator from the party, Susan Collins has said that keeping abortions legal would be a requirement for her to support the Trump nominee and another, Lisa Murkowski, has previously opposed efforts to overturn the 1973 ruling.

Hume said if Trump loses the support of Collins and Murkowski "it's hard to believe" the Republicans would "pick up any Democrats" to achieve a majority confirming the nominee. Collins said she would back only nominees who would show respect for settled law such as the Roe decision.

Trump is set to announce his nomination next Monday.

Shah will take leave from the position of Trump's Deputy Principal Press Secretary to concentrate on getting the President's nominee through the Senate approval process, White House Spokesperson Sarah Sanders said.

Trump he says he plans to meet with two to three more as he works toward a decision "over the next few days".

Gracious in defeat, Japan leave Russia World Cup with pride
With Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi both eliminated from the World Cup on Saturday, this tournament now has a superstar void. Japan is totally different to Wales [who knocked Belgium out of Euro 2016], and we'll take this as seriously as possible.

Since each Supreme Court justice needs 51 votes to be confirmed, Democrats would only need one Republican to side against the nominee, assuming no Democrats break rank. They are really incredible people in so many different ways, academically and in every other way.

Sanders also announced that Justin Clark, the director of the White House's office of public liaison, will oversee the administration's outreach to "key constituencies, coalitions, grassroots organizations and allies".

"That'll happen automatically, in my opinion, because I am putting pro-life justices on the court", Trump said.

WASHINGTON-Though John Roberts has been chief justice of the United States for 13 years, this fall's term may see the true birth of the Roberts Court.

The interviews were with federal appeals judges Raymond Kethledge, Amul Thapar, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett, said a person with knowledge of the meetings who was not authorized to speak publicly about them. Even though Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell changed Senate rules previous year to allow confirmation by simple majority, if Democrats hold together, he can not afford defections. Or, if the worst happens, Arizona Republican Gov. Doug Ducey - a Trump supporter - will have nearly certainly appointed a "yes" vote senator to fill out the rest of McCain's term.

Collins appeared on ABC's "This Week" and CNN's "State of the Union", and Leo spoke on "Fox News Sunday".
