U.S. President Donald Trump will discuss Russia's "malign activity" during a summit with North Atlantic Treaty Organisation leaders and follow up in a meeting Russian President Vladimir Putin to determine whether Moscow wants to reduce tensions, U.S. official said on Thursday.

Trump and Putin will meet July 16 in Helsinki, Finland, for their first official summit.

The press center for reporters accredited for the forthcoming summit meeting between Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump in Helsinki will be located in the downtown Finlandia Hall palace of congresses, the Finnish Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday as it announced the opening of accreditations for the summit.

"You know, I think the fact that we're having a summit at this level, at this time in history, is a deliverable in itself", said Huntsman, adding that he "wouldn't underplay at all the importance of actually sitting down for the first time in a meeting-summit environment and discussing the issues that really matter most".

"The President hopes that a meeting can help reduce tensions", US Ambassador to Russia Jon Huntsman told reporters on a briefing call set up by the White House.

A Senate Intelligence Committee report released on Tuesday supported the conclusion of three USA intelligence agencies that Russian Federation tried to help Donald Trump win the 2016 US presidential election.

"The president's priority is to protect the American people and American interests, including those of our allies and partners", he said.

"You can't solve problems if you are not talking about them", he said.
