Mr. Shine had been in talks with President Trump about a job since the spring, even playing golf with the president and Sean Hannity, the Fox News host and one of Mr. Shine's close friends.

President Donald Trump is announcing Shine, the former co-president of the president's preferred television channel, as his deputy chief of staff for communications.

But with Shine's Fox News experience comes controversy, as he served as an executive during the network's sexual harassment scandal.

"The president does not need unnecessary controversy at this time by naming Shine to as what is in effect a deputy of chief of staff in charge of communications and messaging", Klayman said in a statement. Her position remains unfilled.

He described Shine as having been "at the helm of Fox News as it transitioned from being a partisan political operation to a pro-Trump propaganda arm" and as having "enabled serial sexual misconduct for years".

She had replaced Anthony Scaramucci, whose short-lived but memorable stint as White House communications director came to an end after he gave an expletive-filled interview to The New Yorker.

And now Shine works in the White House!

Man who shot two teens in West Pennant Hills found dead
A woman in her 30s, believed to be the children's mother, arrived at the scene shortly after police and was treated for shock. Two teenagers have died following a suspected domestic violence-related incident in Sydney's north-west, NSW Police say.

Shine was also implicated in racial discrimination lawsuits filed by Fox employees.

Some of the accounts portrayed Shine as Ailes' protector and fixer.

Shine has denied any wrongdoing. His expected hiring had reported last week. Since leaving Fox, Carlson has become an outspoken anti-sexual harassment advocate.

Some of Trump's loudest supporters have urged him to not to appoint Shine.

In a statement about Shine's appointment as deputy chief of staff for communications, a role that was vacated when Hope Hicks suddenly resigned earlier this year, the White House said the following.

"On your marks, get set.... how long till the liberal media and snowflakes start taking shots at the great Bill Shine?". Darla Shine's Twitter account was deleted Thursday afternoon, but HuffPost reviewed several disparaging tweets against Carlson and former host Megyn Kelly.
