The president's Florida resort - which he has promoted as the "Southern White House" - filed requests with the Department of Labor to obtain 61 visas for foreign workers, according to Job Order records posted Thursday by the department's Employment and Training Administration.

It appears President Donald Trump can not find any Americans willing and able to hold jobs at his favorite weekend getaway: Mar-a-Lago Club. At the end of mentioned period, they would be expected to return home.

The workers are being hired under the H-2 visa law, BuzzFeed News reports, which grants temporary visas to workers from overseas if employers can not find qualified Americans to fill the open positions. Mar-a-Lago is a for-profit social club, catering to the wealthy wintertime residents of Palm Beach.

The Florida resort requested 61 H-2B visas, which are visas for temporary non-agricultural workers. But the base salary for servers rose to $12.68 per hour this year from $11.88 per hour the year before.

Another was the Salvation Army, which in the past, held charitable events at both The Breakers and Mar-a-Lago. During the season, you can't get people.

North Korea vents anger after U.S. talks
Speaking in Tokyo , Pompeo said his efforts to push the North on disarmament had the backing of the entire global community. A key aim of Mr Pompeo's two days of talks was to firm up North Korea's commitment to denuclearisation.

The increases in the numbers of foreign workers sought by Mar-a-Lago come at a time when the club's business model seems to be changing - transformed, by Trump's divisive politics from a club focused on charity galas to a GOP clubhouse frequented by Trump's friends and allies.

Other Trump-related businesses have also gone outside the U.S.to pad its seasonal work force. "Other hotels do the exact same thing".

Critics of the visa program claim it is a tool employers can use to exploit vulnerable foreign workers and represses wages for American workers by providing a cheap labor source for companies.

Trump has hired 240 foreign workers at Mar-a-Lago since he announced his candidacy for president in June 2015, according to BuzzFeed, which first reported the news.

The president is known to speak about the "Buy American, Hire American" policy on several occasions and has often asked businesses to opt for usa workers.
