George Clooney injured in Italian scooter crash

George Clooney was reportedly involved in an accident while riding a motorcycle in Italy.

A photo from the Italian website La Nuova showed the car's windshield cracked.

Italian media report the accident happened in Sardinia where the USA actor is filming his latest TV series, Catch-22.

The John Paul II hospital in Olbia said the actor was released on Tuesday.

A fire extinguisher can be seen on the road but no people from the accident were involved.

A local news agency and newspaper suggest Clooney has a suspected hip injury, but is not seriously injured.

Clooney has now been discharged, and local media that had gathered at the hospital said he is believed to have left through a side exit. Clooney was on the island shooting his new series Catch-22.

The Hulu mini-series is based on Joseph Heller's novel about a US Air Force bombardier who aims to fly sufficient missions to go back home and leave World War II behind.

They all came together at the up-market Il Marino di Puntaldia restaurants after George had finished filming.

Sardinia is a large Italian island in the Mediterranean Sea and is over 500 miles from Clooney's villa in Lake Como.
