He appeared to have lost weight. Each count of Predatory Sexual Assault carries a minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum of life behind bars.

"Mr. Weinstein maintains that all of these allegations are false and he expects to be fully vindicated", Brafman said.

The 66-year-old was brought into NY state Supreme Court wearing handcuffs, but he was uncuffed during proceedings.

"Mr. Weinstein is not a predator, he is not a rapist and I believe that when this case is over, we will ultimately see him be exonerated", Brafman said.

In all, Weinstein now faces six felony charges relating to three women: two counts of predatory sexual assault, two counts of criminal sexual act in the first degree, and one count each of first-degree rape and third-degree rape. "This indictment is the result of the extraordinary courage exhibited by the survivors who have come forward". Prosecutors spent most of the 20-minute hearing pushing to have the mogul placed under house arrest in New York City, a proposal that Weinstein's attorney objected to, noting that he now lives in CT.

Weinstein is now free on $1 million bail. But the defense argued against changing his bail conditions and later announced the court had agreed.

Weinstein previously forfeited his passport and is fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet.

Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance has said Weinstein is indicted "on some of the most serious sexual offenses" under NY penal law and has urged other potential victims to come forward.

Trump Slams NYT For Critical Article On US Stance on Breastfeeding
In the end, the US's effort to dash the World Health Organization resolution encouraging breastfeeding was largely unsuccessful. A 2016 study published by The Lancet says breastfeeding could save the lives of 823,000 children and 20,000 mothers each year.

"Are you really willing to have your client face the jury?"

Weinstein has steadfastly denied all accusations of nonconsensual sex.

"He [has been] very helpful to the defense so far", his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman, told reporters outside the courtroom, after revealing that Weinstein has been working as a paralegal. "Are you ready to state unequivocally that Mr. Weinstein is ready to take the witness stand and testify as well?" "If we allow Pulitzer-driven reporters to decide this case then it could be hopeless".

Weinstein's children also live with him at the property, Brafman said.

"He is doing as well as can be expected for someone under these circumstances", the lawyer said of the mogul, who over the past eight months has been accused by more than 80 women - including several models and Hollywood actresses - of sexual misconduct, after investigations by the New York Times and the New Yorker.

The new charges were added to the three charges Weinstein was already facing: Rape in the First and Third Degree and Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree.

Former actress Lucia Evans told The New Yorker that Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex and is thought to be one of the women.

The #MeToo movement has seen people around the world come forward with cases of sexual mistreatment, leading to the downfall of powerful men across multiple industries.
