The duchess, who was wearing Alexander McQueen, added, with a smile: "I hope he stays like this".

Her hat, by Jane Taylor, was a headband-style piece with floral accents, and completed the elegant look. Or should I say. headband?

Prince Louis Arthur Charles of Cambridge was born on April 23 - St. George's Day, England's national day - at St Mary's Hospital in central London weighing eight pounds and seven ounces (3.8 kilogrammes). A royal source said it had been agreed some time ago that the queen would not attend and her absence was not due to any health issues.

However, the Queen, 92, and Prince Philip, 97, were noticeably absent.

The 11-week-old Prince wore the Honiton lace and white christening robe that was also worn by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
