The 21-year-old German No 4 seed was knocked out in the third round of Wimbledon on Saturday by a superb comeback from one of tennis's forgotten men, Ernests Gulbis winning 7-6, 4-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-0 on No 1 Court. In addition, Ernests has reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time in his 11th appearance, becoming one of the players who needed to play more than 10 Wimbledons to book the place in the last 16 after Tommy Robredo, Jeremy Bates, Michael Llodra, Nicolas Mahut, Richey Reneberg and Marc Rosset. He came down with a stomach bug that affected him during his two-day, five-set victory over Taylor Fritz of the the second round and felt exhausted down the stretch against Gulbis. I was very low energy. But then I thought, Well, if I don't feel well, it's going to be one set.

"It's great to see him doing this well, because I think he is such a talented player and he can play on a very high level", Ostapenko said about Gulbis.

"Today I was returning much better, as I said, because it was brighter". I played well on clay, so it's coming together slowly.

Seventh seed Karolina Pliskova came back from a set down to beat Romania's Mihaela Buzarnescu 3-6 7-6 (3) 6-1 in the third round. "Thought I'd go out there and try".

"I worked really, really hard (to get back playing) and it's been a long, arduous road but I always expected to come out and do the best I can do".

He was beaten in the fourth round past year.

Mike Pompeo dismisses North Korea's 'gangster' comments, says talks are going well
The talks came as the U.S, imposed billions of dollars in tariffs on Chinese imports, triggering fears of a full-blown trade war. A letter from Kim to Trump was also delivered to Pompeo through Kim Yong-chol, a top North Korean party official.

"I didn't think I could win after the first win but he got exhausted in the end". We played in dark for an hour.

Frenchman Gael Monfils reached the fourth round at Wimbledon for the first time in 10 appearances, beating last year's semi-finalist Sam Querrey 5-7 6-4 6-4 6-2.

Italy's last remaining entrant in the women's competition suffered an early setback herself against Katerina Siniakova, but broke her foe twice in succession in the third set to emerge a 3-6, 7-6 (6), 6-2 victor.

The best Grand Slam showing for Gulbis was a run to the semifinals at the 2014 French Open, which included a win against Roger Federer.

"I am happy to be able to play in the third round tomorrow".

The world No 44 from France will next meet another big server in Kevin Anderson, who overcame Philipp Kohlschreiber 6-3 7-5 7-5.
