UK's May names loyalist Jeremy Hunt as foreign secretary

Cabinet ministers rallied round Theresa May at today's cabinet meeting as Brexiteers said they were plotting a "guerrilla" campaign to force her to abandon her Brexit compromise.

Prime Minister Theresa May announced Hunt's new role in a tweet, adding that the queen had approved the change.

One theory being pushed by her biggest Brexiteer critics in the party is that if pro-Brexit members of the Cabinet resign one by one, then May's already dwindling authority will be completely destroyed, and she'd have ultimately to step down. Sky Sources confirmed that Johnson repeatedly used the phrase at the away day at Chequers, the prime minister's country retreat.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Brexit Secretary David Davis have already quit.

The outgoing Brexit secretary said the government had gone further than it should have in the negotiations, in a "dangerous strategy". "The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Dominic Raab MP as Secretary of State for Exiting the European Union", a statement from May's office said.

May said the plan would deliver frictionless trade with Europe and was the "only way to avoid a hard border" between the U.K.'s Northern Ireland and European Union member Ireland.

On Monday, May defended Friday's deal, which would allow for some ties between Britain and the EU.

Tusk said it was unfortunate that the whole "idea of Brexit has not left together with David Davis".

Mairead McGuinness, vice president of the European Parliament, said the fact the white paper will still be published on Thursday "bodes well" for ploughing ahead with presenting the plan to the EU.

Mrs May set out in the House of Commons her Brexit model.

Steve Baker, a junior Brexit minister, also resigned.

Tory digital minister Matt Hancock - known for his self-branded social networking app - will now takeover Hunt's portfolio as Health Secretary.

"I'd have to deliver this". "That's not a tenable position".

The loss of two senior ministers and the anger among Brexit-supporting backbench lawmakers makes May's position as leader increasingly tenuous. Under Conservative Party rules, a leadership race could be triggered if at least 48 of her MPs declared their support for one.

Asked about the possibility of a vote of no confidence on Mrs May, he said: "I would firmly believe that she would win that".

But don't worry: His real resignation letter was just more subtle with the clues.
