Whilst the photograph doesn't reveal too much, it shows just how much Jack Wilshere retains affection for the Hammers, becoming apparent it would be his club of choice now that his contract has expired.

"It feels special", the 26-year-old told West Ham's website.

'After speaking with the manager and those at the club I knew my future was at the London Stadium and I can't wait to get going now. "It feels good and of course my family and a few of my friends are West Ham fans so everyone's buzzing".

They will be looking to build a squad at least capable of breaking back into the top four next season after they finished in fifth place and won the FA Cup under Antonio Conte last term.

In a conversation with the West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini the midfielder now looks set to stay in England by signing a three-year contract worth £100,000 per week.

He becomes the latest recruit in what looks set to be a significant summer of investment for West Ham and new manager Manuel Pellegrini.

Wilshere said he did not have to think twice when he learned of Pellegrini's interest which made him join the east Londoners.

"Manuel and I identified him as a target as soon as we joined the club and we are delighted to have succeeded in securing Jack's signature above a number of other teams".

The injury-plagued Wilshere proved his fitness for the Gunners last season, making 29 starts in all competitions.

It is expected that West Ham and Lazio will eventually thrash out terms that will see Anderson sign for the club-record fee.
