Another contender Judge Raymond Kethlidge made headlines blasting the IRS over its treatment of tea party groups.

The President is also said to be intrigued by Amy Coney Barrett, 46, whom he nominated to the 7th US Circuit Court of Appeals, was a Notre Dame law professor and clerked for the late Antonin Scalia - the gold standard for conservatives in a Supreme Court nominee.

"Justice Kavanaugh has the most experience but Justice Hardiman is the one that will get through the Senate more easily and he would bring better legal mind to the United States or in court than all four", Valentino told News10NBC.

Thomas Hardiman, 53, who sits on the 3rd US Circuit Court of Appeals, is also thought to be on Trump's list.

In 2017, when Hardiman was last considered for a Supreme Court seat, he had the support of the president's sister, Maryanne Trump Barry.

White House sources and those involved with the decision-making process have cautioned that only Trump knows whom he will pick, and he will be the one to announce it tonight - in true reality show fashion.

Barrett - a longtime Notre Dame Law School professor who became a federal appeals judge last fall - excited social conservatives with her testimony when she was questioned about her Roman Catholic faith in her nomination hearings past year. "And I believe this person will do a great job", Trump said.

Daredevil Tony Pastrana replicates Evel Knievel's jumps
The 34-year-old Pastrana celebrated by taking one final jump ─ without his motorcycle ─ into the fountain. Knievel crashed on his attempt, breaking his pelvis and other bones.

The President said last week that of the winnowed group of four potential nominees he is now considering, "I have it down to three or two", and he will announce his decision Monday evening.

There are no set dates for when the confirmation hearings will begin.

Barrett, who is 46, has less of a judicial record to review, having just been nominated to the appeals court by Trump past year.

Kethledge, a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, is a former Kennedy clerk and a former in-house lawyer at Ford Motor Co. While that argument won't sway Republicans, their strategy could stiffen Democratic resolve to oppose the nominee.

As others speculated about his nomination to replace retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, Trump had little to say about his choice, who could cement a conservative majority on the court for years to come. As an appeals court judge, Kethledge authored several notable opinions, including one that upheld the death penalty against a suspect who murdered a woman on federal land and a case in OH that questioned whether private citizens can sue the state for failing to enforce pollution controls. Kavanaugh has ties to the Bush family, which has often drawn ire from Trump, but he has investigated the Clintons and recommended the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

"Red-state Democrats are going to have a very hard decision, and I hope that every Republican will rally behind these picks because they're all outstanding", Sen. All have a solidly conservative voting record and Judge Barrett, a member of a Catholic revivalist group named People of Praise, is said to be most open to overturning Roe v Wade, the... "I do think the president has to think about who is the easiest to get confirmed here and I expect we'll do that on sort of a normal timetable of a couple of months".
