Ten years have passed since Federer and Nadal played out their epic Wimbledon final, with the duo who are still reigning supreme at the top of the men's game well into their 30s firm favourites to meet again for the first time on a grass court since that iconic game this Sunday.

The Wimbledon top seed outclassed his opponent Adrian Mannarino in straight games (6-0, 7-5, 6-4) to reach his 16th Wimbledon quarter-finals.

The eight-time champion lost just five points in a 16-minute first set but faced break points for the first time in this year's tournament, saving all four.

"I think it's a pretty exciting opportunity to play Federer here at Wimbledon", Anderson, who has served 96 aces in four rounds, told reporters. "Ten years after their great final of 2008, maybe it would be fitting if they played again this year". He edged Gael Monfils 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2), 5-7, 7-6 (4), to whom he held a 0-5 head-to-head record entering the match.

Three-time Wimbledon champion John McEnroe said it was a "privilege" to still be able to see the Swiss marvel strut his stuff on tennis's most famous centre court and, a month shy of his 37th birthday, Federer said he could barely believe it either.

It has been seven long years since the world No.1 has reached the final eight in London. Federer vs Anderson, Anderson is a good player but it's not as good a match.

Nadal, like Federer yet to drop a set, routed world number 93 Vesely on the eve of the Czech player's 25th birthday.

The 28-year-old Nishikori is the first Japanese man to reach the quarterfinals at Wimbledon since Shuzo Matsuoka in 1995.

As it stands, the 17-time Grand Slam champion is now on 8,950 points while Federer, who has to win a ninth Wimbledon title to retain the full 2,000 points, is now on 8,720.

Cibulkova overcame a delay caused by a controversial decision from the umpire to advance to the quarterfinals with a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Hsieh Su-Wei. She plays Kiki Bertens first-up on No 2 Court, the victor advancing to the quarter-finals against either Julia Görges or Donna Vekic.

He was down a break in the third set but broke right back for 3-3 and then converted his third match point when Vesely missed a backhand. "But when I come here, I come here thinking that I can do a good result, no?" Kerber, who won the Australian and U.S. Open titles in 2016, is seeded 11th - making her the highest ranked woman left in the draw.
