23-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams rallied from a set down to dismiss Camila Giorgi and reach her first grand slam semi-final since becoming a wife and a mother.

"I knew going in it was not going to be an easy match", said Williams, who now plays 13th seed Julia Goerges of Germany, who beat Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 over on Court No 1. Kasatkina finished with seven double-faults, including one on break point in the second game and then two straight to hand Kerber a 5-3 lead in the first set - halting her momentum just after breaking to get back on serve with the help of one of the best rallies of the match.

Williams was forced to withdraw from the fourth round of the French Open last month in her grand slam return with a pectoral injury and admitted last week she still wasn't serving at full power.

The number 11 seed overcame a determined Belinda Bencic 6-3, 7-6 and, like Görges, will fancy her chances at upsetting Williams' charge to the title. Hopefully, it doesn't come full circle and my gloating come back to haunt me in the shape of Anderson playing lights out! By the time she was done, she had hit 20 winners and only 14 unforced errors in a match of high quality on both sides.

The Queen is back, with Tuesday's win guaranteeing that she will jump from 181 to at least 51 when the new rankings are announced next week. Bertens is seeded 20th.

"It's pretty unreal for me", said Goerges, who reached her first major semifinal at a tournament where she exited in the first round each of the past five years. I just tried to fight for every point.

"It was a very tough match but I was just trying to enjoy it".

As a result, Trump found more than twice as many judicial vacancies waiting for him when he entered the White House as Obama did. He also has taken an expansive view of executive power and has favored limits on investigating the president.

Williams, who has a kind run through to the semi-finals, will next take on Camila Giorgi of Italy.

"I went for it", Williams said of the serve afterward.

Williams is 3-0 against Goerges, winning in straight sets each time.

Looking to become the first Italian woman to make the Wimbledon semifinals, Giorgi did not let up, even when the match started to look like it was slipping away.

Japan's Kei Nishikori beat Ernests Gulbis in four sets to set up a match-up with Novak Djokovic, who has quietly been playing well at the tournament. That variety and injection of pace made Mannarino so unsure of his game and like I've said many times before Fed's brand of tennis is just so unique.
