Cardi B Files $15 Million Countersuit Against Ex-Manager

As was previously reported by the Inquisitr, Cardi B was sued by Klenord "Shaft" Raphael, who claimed that he was commissioned to turn her into a "social media sensation" and take her from Instagram to superstardom.

"The suit, filed in New York's Southern District by attorney Paul LiCalsi of Robins Kaplan, claims that Shaft used money that belonged to Cardi - whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar - for "personal travel, entertainment and expenses", and that employees of Shaft's company, KSR, "[helped] themselves to the 'Bank of Almanzar, '" taking "loans" of up to $15,000 without Cardi's knowledge.

While Cardi B acknowledges having a contract with Shaft, her lawsuit argues that it was breached after WorldStar, Shaft's company, failed to provide some of the services agreed on, such as an independent business manager and certain payments to her.

Cardi B is preparing for motherhood by going after her former manager for trying to control her life.

Not only did Shaft receive a 20% commission, but he tried to get even more money off the performer's Sony music publishing deal - allegedly demanding 50% of that deal. The lawsuit alleges that Shaft was "a self-serving and controlling personal manager" who breached "contractual and fiduciary duties to Belcalis Almanzar, an immensely talented and trusting young artist".

The assurance to the Centre came after additional solicitor-general Tushar Mehta objected to a suggestion from Justice D.Y. At long last, the Central government has clarified its stance on Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code.

Raphael, known as Shaft, filed a lawsuit in April against the new rap superstar soon after she finally dropped her debut album (more below). Now she seeks $15 million from him. This apparently included her relationships as she claims Shaft would tell her "who she should and should not see romantically".

Cardi B is now one of the hottest hip-hop artists with the success of her smash hit "Bodak Yellow" past year.

Raphael is seeking at least $10 million damages through the suit.
