Prince William and Princess Kate have announced the godparents for today's christening of Prince Louis at the Chapel Royal at St. James's Palace.

"She loved all the old classics and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, [big sister Princess] Charlotte and [big brother Prince] George to enjoy as they get older", a friend told the tabloid.

Instead, it is the Queen's busy schedule that kept her away from the event, but her absence was a mutual decision between the monarch, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

In 2013, Prince Louis' older brother, Prince George, was also christened by Welby at the Chapel Royal.

Per the official royal website, "Following the service, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will give a private tea at Clarence House". At the ceremony, 7-year-old cake (made for Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in 2011) was served, which is a British tradition. The original was made in 1841 for the christening of Queen Victoria's eldest daughter, Princess Victoria, the Princess Royal, and was subsequently worn for all royal christenings, including Queen Elizabeth, her children and most of her grandchildren.

Meghan opted for an olive ensemble for Monday's christening of nephew Prince Louis, her first royal baptism since marrying Prince Harry.

The Duchess of Cambridge appeared to make a special gesture to involve her tragic mother-in-law in her grandson's christening.
