Israel Cuts Off Goods to Gaza Over Kites Harming Crops

Israel closed its only goods crossing with the Gaza Strip on Monday over weeks of fires at farms caused by kites and balloons carrying firebombs from the Palestinian enclave.

The Israeli military issued its own separate statement, saying that Kerem Shalom would remain open to a limit amount of humanitarian aid during the cosure.

Translation: In addition (to closing the crossing), the extension of the Gaza Strip fishing zone to nine miles for the fishing season will expire, returning today to six miles. In his statement, Netanyahu pointed out that Gaza's fishing zone would revert to 16 nautical miles after it was temporarily expanded to 9 nautical miles in April.

Since 30 March 2018, more than 130 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli army fire and thousands have been injured while participating in regular demonstrations along the Gaza-Israel security fence.

A Palestinian media agency that is known for being first on the scene and recording eyewitness videos of Israeli military atrocities against Palestinians has been banned by Israel, as the Israeli Defense Minister and former nightclub bouncer Avigdor Lieberman signed an order declaring Al-Quds TV to be a "terrorist" media organization.

The closure of the Karam Abu Salem border crossing will also affect Gaza's exports, further straining an already crippled economy brought to its knees by the 12-year blockade.
